Joseph Bonello is a Resident Academic in Data Science and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Malta. He is currently reading a PhD in Bioinformatics at University College London (UCL). His interests include data management and the application of data science algorithms in Health and Biology.
Joseph has several years experience in the industry. Before joining the University of Malta, he has worked in both the public and the private sectors, where he gained experience in a number of fields including Health, Customs, Telecommunications and Finance. Joseph participated in a number of EU initiatives, including FP6, ERDF and COST.
At present, he is involved in the GREEKS COST initiative, which seeks to build high quality and interoperable Knowledge Commons for gene regulation. The project brings together biocurators, bioinformaticians and computational biologists which work together with the Gene Regulation Consortium to improve the Knowledge Commons in curating gene regulation information.
